I’m just down the street in South Bay! Thanks for sharing these thoughts. I did my masters degree at Columbia, and we started with some interesting exercises around archetypes and Jungian psychology. I hadn’t thought to revisit since then. 💜

Kate, I’m not writing to you about your prompts but about your own personal journey. That you were awarded a grant from the Zellerbach family fund took me back to when I used to work for them at Crown Zellerbach paper company back in 1974 or 75’, which by my body math was a hundred years ago. I’m thrilled with your writing and always enjoy your clever stories.

Hello Nita, I owe so much to the Zellerbach Family Fund, how they supported my ideas from the start and understood the power of storytelling in education. Very progressive and willing to take a risk on innovation. The ZFF support of community arts in the City was a trailblazing direction, now more important than ever. I hope that working for Crown Zellerbach paper company was as enjoyable or memorable as my experience. Great family! Thanks for sharing your story. XOI

I've been reflecting recently on how this myth explores physical beauty versus soul beauty. By focusing on outward beauty ( getting tricked by stepsisters that her husband is an ugly monster, trying to appease the goddess of beauty and opening the box of toxic makeup) all are necessary break throughs to finally reach her soul beauty - she is then blessed by butterfly wings.

Wonderfully deep insights into the myth of Psyche! The concept of beauty is a central theme in this story and I'm so glad you see this and are reflecting on it. Physical beauty (or the cultural image of it) is a constant trap for the feminine. Victory over Aphrodite!! XO
